Look, we'll be honest with you - running a heritage hotel isn't always easy. When we first took over this magnificent 1920s building, people thought we were a bit crazy. The place needed serious love, but we saw something special in those old walls.

What started as a restoration project became our passion. We spent three years bringing this beauty back to life, carefully preserving the original craftsmanship while sneaking in all the modern comforts you'd expect from a luxury hotel.

From Vancouver's roaring twenties to today's modern elegance

1923

The Foundation

Originally constructed as the Bastion Manor, this architectural gem was designed by renowned architect William Blackwood. Built during Vancouver's economic boom, it quickly became a social hub for the city's elite. The original marble flooring and hand-carved woodwork? Still there, still stunning.

1945

Post-War Transformation

After serving as military housing during WWII, the building underwent its first major renovation. The grand ballroom was added, along with expanded guest quarters. Stories from this era include hosting returning soldiers' reunion celebrations and becoming a gathering place for Vancouver's rebuilding community.

1978

The Heritage Designation

Officially recognized as a protected heritage building by the City of Vancouver. This designation meant we couldn't just do whatever we wanted with renovations - every change had to respect the building's historical integrity. Looking back, that restriction was actually a blessing in disguise.

2019

The Rebirth Begins

Our team acquired the property and started the most ambitious restoration in the building's history. We brought in heritage conservation specialists, master craftspeople, and yes, even a historian who made sure we weren't messing up anything important. The building was closed for three years - worth every minute.

2022

Grand Reopening

Chronovex Bastion Hotel opened its doors as Vancouver's premier luxury heritage hotel. The transformation preserved every bit of historical character while adding state-of-the-art amenities, a world-class spa, fine dining restaurant, and accommodations that'd make our 1920s predecessors pretty jealous.
